Yeniseysk
Yeniseysk is an ancient city situated by a mighty Siberian river - the Yenisei. It was founded as a military stronghold on the eastern frontiers of Russia in 1619 by a group of Cossacks led by a son of boyar - P. Albichev and Ch. Rukin. For almost one and a half century Yeniseysk had been "the main gate" to the Eastern Siberia and is by right called "the father" of all Siberian cities.

Yeniseysk is a unique town having kept and brought through centuries unique memorials of history and culture and original architectonic heritage of the past. An outdoor museum can be named the central part of town, whose base is composed with merchants mansions and villas. Of great interest is also wooden architecture, a distinctive feature of ancient architectonic memorials is various wood-carving.
Those temples rise proudly over the other buildings, fascinating in their greatness and the originality of the architectural ensembles. They give the city a unique appearance and color.
Spaso-Preobraxhensky Monastery (1642), Iversky convent (1623),
Uspensky cathedral (1793 to 1819), Voskresenskaya church (1747). these buildings are the monuments of region importance.
In 1970, according to the decree of Gosstroy RSFSR and the Ministry of Culture, Yeniseysk was included into the list of 116 monument-cities of Russia.
