Тhe Krasnoyarsk Region is situated mainly within the territory of  Western Siberia, in the basin of the Yenisey River. There is a lowland valley along its left bank and the Central Siberian plateau reaching 500 to 700 m. above sea-level along the right one. The Region is nearly 3,000 km long from the north to the south. On its territory, nor far from Lake Vivy in Evenkia, there is also the geographical center of Russia. 

Main cities of the region are Krasnoyarsk, Achinsk, Yeniseysk, Kansk, Lesosibirsk, Minusinsk, Norilsk, Igarka and Dudinka. 

Population of the Region: over 3 million people live in the Krasnoyarsk Region. Alongside the indigenous peoples (Evenks, Nents, Ketos, Yakuts, Dolgans, and others) there are more than 118 nationalities.

Climate: there are 3 climatic zones on the territory of the region- arctic, subarctic and temperate one. In the north there are no days with temperature above 10 degrees Celsius, while there are 110 to 120 such days in the south. The usual temperature in January is 36 C below zero to the north and 18 C below zero to the south, whereas July temperature is 10 C and 20 C above zero. Snow covers the ground at the beginning of November and melts in March. In the East and West Sayan, there is snow all year round.
